Does this work with QuickBooks Desktop?
The integration is written against QuickBooks Online, which is what the API covers. Desktop is reachable only through a local connector and a file exchange - a different piece of work, worth costing separately rather than assuming.
Sales receipts or invoices?
Sales receipts for orders paid at checkout, invoices for anything on terms. The order decides, which is what stops the ledger filling with invoices nobody was ever going to chase.
What if QuickBooks rejects a document?
It is held with the reason and replayed after correction, never dropped in silence. An order with no document after twenty-four hours raises an alert.
